District And Session Court Ghaziabad

The Ghaziabad Judgeship came into existence on 14-11-1976 vide notification No. 7022/VII-A.N.358/76 dated 13-11-1976. The district of Ghaziabad was also formed on the same day. Ghaziabad judgeship was bifurcated from the Meerut Judgeship. There are two outlying courts functional at Hapur and Garhmukteshwar.At the headquarters at Ghaziabad the Court started functioning from the court campus at Model Town, Gandhinagar. Shri Inder Pal Singh had the honour of being the first District Judge Later on a need arose for bigger and an integrated multi storied court campus. It was on 18-05-1995 that the Court Campus shifted to Rajnagar. All the courts started functioning under one roof. At present the total strengths of the judicial officers at Ghaziabad is 63.


Ghaziabad has following Criminal Courts

  • Sessions Court/Additional Sessions Court
  • Chief Judicial Magistrate/Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate
  • Judicial Magistrate

At present there are fifteen Sessions Courts, five Fast Track Courts, one court of Special Judge sc/st,one court of special judge E.C. Act and three courts of special judge CBI functioning. At outlying court Hapur one court of Additional District Judge, one Fast Track Court, one Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate and Judicial Magistrate are functioning. In the lower Judiciary besides the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate there are eight courts of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrates, one Court of Judicial Magistrate, one court of Special Judicial Magistrate(CBI) and two courts of Special Judicial Magistrate are functioning .


Civil Justice Administration

The District Judge's Court is the appellate Court for civil cases. Then there are fifteen Additional District Judges Court and one court of Additional District Judge at Hapur. Besides the parent courts of Civil Judge Senior Division and civil judge junior division there are seven additional courts in senior division and three additional courts in junior division are functioning at headquarter Ghaziabad and one court of civil judge senior division, one court of additional civil judge senior division, one court of civil judge junior division and one court of addl. civil judge senior division are functioning at Hapur and two courts of civil judge junior division are functioning at Garhmukteshwer.
